The general business law is amended by adding a new section 2 391-jj to read as follows: 3 § 391-jj. Sale of electric space heaters. No person, firm, partner- 4 ship, association or corporation regularly engaged in the business of 5 assembling, manufacturing, distributing or the retail sale of electric 6 space heaters shall assemble, manufacture, distribute, sell or offer to 7 sell any electric space heater in the normal course of business in this 8 state unless such electric space heater: 9 1. includes a thermostat; 10 2. includes an automatic shut-off; and 11 3. has been certified by a testing and certification body recognized 12 and approved by the United States department of labor, occupational 13 safety and health administration. 14 § 2.
