       AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation to requiring notification
         of insurance policy cancellation to be made by certified mail
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The insurance law is amended by adding a new  section  3114
    2  to read as follows:
    3    S  3114. NOTIFICATION OF INSURANCE POLICY CANCELLATION.  NOTWITHSTAND-
    4  ING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW, ANY NOTIFICATION OF THE CANCELLATION  OF
    5  AN  INSURANCE  POLICY  WHICH  SHALL BE MADE TO AN ADDRESS LOCATED IN THE
    6  STATE SHALL BE MADE BY CERTIFIED MAIL, RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED.
    7    S 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day  after  it  shall
    8  have become a law.
