        Introduced  by  M.  of  A.  L. ROSENTHAL -- (at request of the Office of
          Temporary and Disability Assistance) -- read once and referred to  the
          Committee on Social Services

        AN  ACT  to  amend  chapter  436  of  the laws of 1997, constituting the
          welfare reform act of 1997,  in  relation  to  extending  the  current
          exemptions of income and resources for public assistance programs

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Subdivision (c) of section 153 of part B of chapter 436  of
     2  the  laws  of  1997,  constituting  the  welfare  reform act of 1997, as
     3  amended by chapter 213 of the laws  of  2019,  is  amended  to  read  as
     4  follows:
     5    (c) Section sixteen of this act shall take effect November 1, 1997 and
     6  expire and be deemed repealed August 22, [2021] 2023;
     7    §  2.  This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that
     8  if this act shall have become a law on or after August 22, 2021 this act
     9  shall take effect immediately and shall be deemed to have been  in  full
    10  force and effect on and after August 22, 2021.
