GUNTHER -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Labor -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee -- again reported from said committee with amendments, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the labor law, in relation to notifying individuals applying for and receiving unemployment benefits of rental, mortgage, food, and utility assistance programs The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 540 of the labor law, as amended by chapter 601 of 2 the laws of 2007, is amended to read as follows: 3 § 540. [Informational pamphlet] Information about food stamp 4 [program], utility, and rental and mortgage assistance programs. The 5 commissioner shall establish procedures whereby each person who files a 6 claim for unemployment insurance pursuant to section five hundred nine- 7 ty-six of this article, shall receive [an informational leaflet] infor- 8 mation about the food stamp program provided by the office of temporary 9 and disability assistance pursuant to subdivision six of section nine- 10 ty-five-a of the social services law and the utility assistance and 11 rental and mortgage assistance programs available through the division 12 of housing and community renewal and the office of temporary and disa- 13 bility assistance. The commissioner shall also provide information about 14 such programs on the department's website. Such information shall be 15 prominently displayed and easily accessible by individuals filing a 16 claim or certifying for unemployment benefits. 17 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
