        AN ACT to authorize Marie E.  Abraham  to  take  the  competitive  civil
          service examination and be placed on the eligible list for appointment
          as a full-time police officer for the City of Mechanicville, County of
          Saratoga
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of  the  civil
     2  service  law, or any other law to the contrary, Marie E. Abraham who has
     3  been continuously employed by the City of Mechanicville, in  the  County
     4  of  Saratoga,  as  a part-time police officer, shall be eligible to take
     5  the competitive Civil Service examination for  the  position  of  Police
     6  Officer  and  shall,  contingent  upon her score on such examination, be
     7  eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment  as  a  full-
     8  time Police Officer for the City of Mechanicville.
     9    Marie  E.  Abraham shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness
    10  provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police offi-
    11  cers.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
