AN ACT to amend the civil service law, in relation to establishing the
military service credit shall be included for the purposes of comput-
ing a member's longevity
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1 Section 1. The civil service law is amended by adding a new section
2 159-d to read as follows:
3 S 159-D. MILITARY SERVICE CREDIT; LONGEVITY. FOR THE PURPOSE OF
4 COMPUTING ANY LONGEVITY INCREASE TO WHICH A MEMBER MAY BE ENTITLED, THE
5 CREDIT GRANTED PURSUANT TO SECTION ONE THOUSAND OF THE RETIREMENT AND
6 SOCIAL SECURITY LAW SHALL BE INCLUDED WHEN DETERMINING THE TOTAL SERVICE
7 CREDIT IN ACTIVE SERVICE.
8 S 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall be deemed to
9 have been in full force and effect on and after December 21, 1998.
