        AN  ACT  to  amend  the  education  law, in relation to providing aid to
          school districts for expenses related to the school districts' use  of
          electricity,  propane,  natural gas, and/or heating oil for the school
          year
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  Section  3602 of the education law is amended by adding a
     2  new subdivision 27 to read as follows:
     3    27. Aid for electricity, propane, natural gas, and/or heating oil  for
     4  the  school  year.  a.  Commencing  with aid payable in the two thousand
     5  seventeen--two thousand eighteen school year, the commissioner is hereby
     6  authorized to apportion to any school  district  aid  pursuant  to  this
     7  subdivision  for  its  approved expenditures, in excess of base year aid
     8  received, for expenses related to  the  cost  of  electricity,  propane,
     9  natural gas, and/or heating oil for the school year.
    10    b. Aid pursuant to this subdivision shall equal twenty-five percent of
    11  the  school district's cost for its use of electricity, propane, natural
    12  gas, and/or heating oil throughout the school year.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
