PERRY, RIVERA, ROBINSON, SALADINO, SCHIMEL, SKARTADOS, STECK -- read once and referred to the Committee on Higher Education -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee -- recommitted to the Committee on Higher Education in accordance with Assembly Rule 3, sec. 2 -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said commit- tee AN ACT in relation to requiring the education department, in consulta- tion with the department of labor and any other entity the education department deems appropriate, to produce an annual report regarding state workforce projections and education credential production; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. To the extent practicable within available resources and 2 subject to the availability of data currently collected by and accessi- 3 ble to state agencies, the education department, in consultation with 4 the department of labor and any other entity the education department 5 deems appropriate, shall produce an annual report regarding state work- 6 force need projections and credential production. The report shall: 7 a. indicate the state's anticipated workforce needs for the three-year 8 period following the report and the number of degrees, certificates, and 9 other credentials that public and private institutions of higher educa- 10 tion, private occupational schools, local community colleges and area 11 vocational schools expect to issue over the three-year period following 12 the report; 13 b. to the extent provided by sources external to the education depart- 14 ment, indicate the state's anticipated number of degrees, certificates 15 and other credentials that high school vocational programs, apprentice- EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [] is old law to be omitted.
