       AN ACT to amend the real property tax law, in relation to tax exemptions
         for veterans
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 458-a of the real property tax law  is  amended  by
    2  adding a new subdivision 10 to read as follows:
    3    10.  (A) A VETERAN WHO RECEIVES THE EXEMPTION PROVIDED BY THIS SECTION
    4  PURSUANT TO A RESOLUTION ADOPTED  BY  A  SCHOOL  DISTRICT  SHALL  REMAIN
    5  ELIGIBLE FOR ALL OTHER TAX REBATES SUCH VETERAN WOULD HAVE BEEN ELIGIBLE
    6  FOR HAD SUCH EXEMPTION NOT BEEN GRANTED.
    7    (B)  THE COMMISSIONER SHALL REFUND THE FULL AMOUNT IN TAX REBATES THAT
    8  WOULD HAVE BEEN  GRANTED  TO  SUCH  VETERANS  IN  THE  ABSENCE  OF  SUCH
    9  EXEMPTION.
   10    S  2.  This  act  shall take effect immediately and shall be deemed to
   11  have been in full force and effect for taxable years  beginning  on  and
   12  after January 1, 2014.
