        AN  ACT  authorizing the study of fees and charges assessed to residents
          of assisted living facilities
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. The department of health in conjunction with the office for
     2  the aging is authorized and directed to study the fees and charges being
     3  assessed  to residents of assisted living facilities. Specifically, such
     4  study shall review the rate of increase of the fees  and  charges  being
     5  assessed to residents of assisted living facilities.
     6    § 2. On or before April 1, 2018, the commissioner of the department of
     7  health and the director of the office for the aging shall deliver a copy
     8  of  the  findings of the study conducted pursuant to section one of this
     9  act and any legislative recommendations they deem to be necessary to the
    10  governor, the temporary president of the senate, and the speaker of  the
    11  assembly.
    12    §  3. The commissioner of the department of health and the director of
    13  the office for the aging may request, and are authorized to receive, any
    14  information from any state agencies or assisted living  facilities  that
    15  is  relevant  and  material  to the completion of this study and report.
    16  Such information received by the department of health and the office for
    17  the aging shall be subject to the same requirements for  confidentiality
    18  and  limitations  on  use,  if any, as are applicable to each such state
    19  agency's use of such information.
