       AN  ACT  to  amend  the  public health law, in relation to senior living
         facilities
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  The  public health law is amended by adding a new article
    2  30-D to read as follows:
    3                                 ARTICLE 30-D
    4                          SENIOR LIVING FACILITIES
    5  SECTION 3080. DEFINITION.
    6          3081. AMBULANCE SERVICE.
    7    S 3080. DEFINITION. AS USED IN THIS ARTICLE, "SENIOR LIVING  FACILITY"
    8  SHALL  MEAN  ANY  DWELLING  OR COLLECTIVE GROUP OF DWELLINGS AT A COMMON
    9  LOCATION PROVIDING HOUSING TO MORE THAN FIFTY PERSONS WHO ARE  OVER  THE
   10  AGE OF SIXTY-FIVE YEARS.
   11    S  3081.  AMBULANCE SERVICE. EVERY SENIOR LIVING FACILITY SHALL EMPLOY
   12  AN INDEPENDENT AMBULANCE SERVICE, CERTIFIED PURSUANT  TO  SECTION  THREE
   13  THOUSAND  FIVE  OF  THIS CHAPTER, FOR THE PROVISION OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL
   14  SERVICES AND TRANSPORT. THE COMMISSIONER AND THE STATE EMERGENCY MEDICAL
   15  SERVICES COUNCIL SHALL ESTABLISH STANDARDS FOR THE PROVISION OF EMERGEN-
   16  CY MEDICAL SERVICES AND TRANSPORT, AND THE  STAFFING  OF  AMBULANCES  AT
   17  SENIOR LIVING FACILITIES PURSUANT TO ARTICLE THIRTY OF THIS CHAPTER.
   18    S  2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed-
   19  ing the date on which it shall have become  a  law;  provided  that  any
   20  rules and regulations necessary for the implementation of the provisions
   21  of  this  act  on  its  effective date are authorized and directed to be
   22  promulgated and completed on or before such date.
