STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 2083 2019-2020 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY January 22, 2019 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. CROUCH -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the public buildings law, in relation to requiring the state install alternative energy infrastructure on the roofs of all state facilities where practicable or on state owned property adjacent to building The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The section heading and subdivision 1 of section 83 of the 2 public buildings law, as added by chapter 380 of the laws of 2009, are 3 amended to read as follows: 4 Agency green building and alternative energy infrastructure 5 construction requirements. 1. (a) The construction of new buildings and 6 the substantial renovation of existing buildings shall comply with such 7 green construction requirements and procedures as shall have been estab- 8 lished by the office in regulations pursuant to subdivision two of this 9 section. 10 (b) All state owned buildings shall comply with the alternative energy 11 infrastructure standards and regulations promulgated by the office 12 pursuant to subdivision two of this section. Such standards and regu- 13 lations shall require the use of methods including, but not be limited 14 to, installing alternative energy infrastructure where practicable on 15 the roofs of all state owned buildings or, where the roof of a building 16 is not practicable, state owned property adjacent to the building. 17 § 2.
