        AN  ACT  to  amend  the  administrative code of the city of New York, in
          relation to increasing fines for individuals who fail to comply with a
          stop work order
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  Section 28-207.2.6 of the administrative code of the city
     2  of New York, as amended by local law number 157 of the city of New  York
     3  for the year 2017, is amended to read as follows:
     4    §  28-207.2.6  Penalties. In addition to the penalties provided for in
     5  this chapter, any person who fails to comply  with  a  stop  work  order
     6  shall  be  liable  for a civil penalty in the amount of [$6,000] $10,000
     7  for the initial violation and [$12,000]  $20,000  for  every  subsequent
     8  violation,  to  be paid to the department prior to the rescission of the
     9  stop work order; provided, however, this shall not  apply  to  any  work
    10  performed  to  remedy  an unsafe or hazardous condition as authorized by
    11  order of the commissioner.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day  after  it  shall
    13  have become a law.
