JEAN-PIERRE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee -- recommitted to the Committee on Education in accordance with Assembly Rule 3, sec. 2 -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee -- again reported from said commit- tee with amendments, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to requiring private food service management companies to disclose ingredient lists and nutri- tional information for all the meals they provide school districts and requiring such school districts to publish this information on their website The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 924 to 2 read as follows: 3 § 924. Ingredient and nutritional information requirements. a. All 4 contracts entered into for the two thousand twenty-three--two thousand 5 twenty-four school year, and thereafter, to provide, maintain and oper- 6 ate cafeteria or restaurant service by a private food service management 7 company shall include provisions requiring such private food service 8 management company to disclose ingredients lists and nutritional infor- 9 mation to school districts for all meals that such company provides. 10 The private food service management company shall be required to consol- 11 idate nutritional information for any meal that is comprised of separate 12 individual ingredients. School districts and boards of cooperative 13 educational services shall have no responsibility to provide nutritional 14 information except pursuant to subdivision b of this section. This act shall take effect July 1, 2023. Effective immediately, 5 the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation neces- 6 sary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are 7 authorized to be made and completed on or before such date.
