        AN  ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to physician ranking
          for opiate prescriptions
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  Section  3343-a  of  the  public health law is amended by
     2  adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows:
     3    2-a. On an annual basis, the department shall provide to  all  author-
     4  ized  prescribers  of opiates, as defined in subdivision b of schedule I
     5  of section three thousand three hundred  six  of  this  article,  notice
     6  stating the number of prescriptions for opiates written by such prescri-
     7  ber  during  the  previous calendar year, and the prescriber's numerical
     8  ranking and percentile ranking relative to other prescribers within each
     9  county where the prescriber practices based on such number.
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
