AN ACT to amend the general municipal law, in relation to ordinances to
regulate taxicabs, limousines, and livery vehicles
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The section heading and subdivision 1 of section 181 of the
2 general municipal law, the section heading as amended by chapter 579 of
3 the laws of 1993, subdivision 1 as separately amended by chapters 287
4 and 289 of the laws of 2016, are amended to read as follows:
5 Ordinances to regulate taxicabs [and], limousines, and livery
6 vehicles.
7 1. The registration and licensing of taxicabs, limousines, and livery
8 vehicles and may limit the number of taxicabs to be licensed and the
9 county of Westchester may adopt ordinances regulating the registration
10 and licensing of taxicabs and limousines and may limit the number to be
11 licensed; the county of Nassau may adopt ordinances regulating the
12 registration of taxicabs and limousines; and the county of Suffolk may
13 adopt local laws or ordinances regulating the registration of taxicabs,
14 limousines, and livery vehicles; the county of Rockland may adopt local
15 laws or ordinances regulating the registration and licensing of taxi-
16 cabs, limousines, and livery vehicles and may limit the number to be
17 licensed; and the county of Dutchess may adopt local laws or ordinances
18 regulating the registration and licensing of taxicabs, limousines and
19 livery vehicles; and the county of Ulster may adopt local laws or ordi-
20 nances regulating the registration and licensing of taxicabs, limou-
21 sines, and livery vehicles.
22 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
