          Committee on Education
        AN ACT to amend the education law,  in  relation  to  requiring  certain
          public  schools  in  any  city  with  a population over one million to
          provide Halal food during lunch
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 915-a
     2  to read as follows:
     3    § 915-a. Halal food restrictions.  In any city having a population  of
     4  one  million or more, each public school shall provide Halal food to any
     5  student who has such a dietary restriction or requirement at no cost  to
     6  such student.
     7    § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred twentieth day after
     8  it  shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend-
     9  ment and/or repeal of any rules or regulations necessary for the  imple-
    10  mentation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made on
    11  or before such date.
