     Appropriates $2 million to NAACP New Jersey State Conference.

A Supplement to the annual appropriations act for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, P.L.2021, c.133.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.2021, c.133, the annual appropriations act for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, there is appropriated from the General Fund the following amount for the purpose specified:

 

22 DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS

50 Economic Planning, Development, and Security

55 Social Services Programs

 

GRANTS-IN-AID

50-8050  Community Resources ......................................... $2,000,000

                 Total Grants-in-Aid Appropriation,                                      

                   Social Services Program .................................. $2,000,000

Grants-in-Aid:

         05    NAACP New Jersey State

                   Conference........................................... ($2,000,000)

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill appropriates $2 million to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) New Jersey State Conference to offset costs incurred by the organization in hosting the NAACP Annual Convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey from July 13, 2022 through July 20, 2022. 

     Founded on February 12, 1909, the NAACP is one of the United States' largest and most widely recognized civil rights organizations.  The NAACP's mission is to "ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of all citizens" through the elimination of racial prejudice among citizens of the United States, the removal of barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes, and the enactment and enforcement of federal, state, and local laws securing civil rights.
