A Joint Resolution designating the third full week in March as "Domestic Violence Services Awareness Week" in New Jersey.

Whereas, According to the National Coalition against Domestic Violence, one out of every three women and one out of every four men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner at some point in their lives; and

Whereas, There are approximately 39 organizations in this State that offer vital advocacy, services, and assistance to domestic violence victims and their families; and

Whereas, The services include, but are not limited to, a 24-hour hotline, emergency services, legal and financial services, counseling services, child services, housing services, support services, and community resource services; and

Whereas, These services provide critical resources to domestic violence victims and their families, as victims often do not have independent incomes or alternative housing options; and

Whereas, Victims of domestic violence may not be aware of the services offered, such as emergency shelter and housing, which may be vital in helping them safely escape abusive situations; now, therefore,
