Whereas, New Jersey is one of the most diverse states in the United States of America with respect to the racial-ethnic make up of its citizens and has a large foreign-born population; and

Whereas, Echoing the words engraved on the Statue of Liberty, the State of New Jersey has historically served as a beacon of light and hope for persecuted populations and immigrants from around the world searching for a better life and has welcomed the cultural contributions of these communities upon their arrival; and

Whereas, Countless cultures and communities from all over the world have contributed to the fabric of New Jersey life and to the continued growth of diversity in the State; and

Whereas, It is important to recognize the significant contributions the various cultures and communities have made to the arts, sciences, business, and education in New Jersey; and

Whereas, Celebrating cultural diversity means valuing the innovation, creativity, and exchange of ideas fostered by the various cultures in the State and recognizing diversity as an imperative asset for social and economic development; and

Whereas, The State of New Jersey, therefore, takes pride in its cultural diversity and welcomes the opportunity to honor and celebrate the numerous cultures represented by its residents; now, therefore,
