Whereas, Many parents and guardians are concerned about the mature content of the entertainment options available to their children; and
Whereas, During the summer months, children are exposed to increased forms of entertainment, potentially subjecting them to content their parents or guardians may find objectionable; and
Whereas, It is the responsibility of parents and guardians to monitor the content of the entertainment viewed by their children, thereby making it vital that parents and guardians are educated on how to determine appropriate content for their children; and
Whereas, The entertainment industry has voluntarily developed ratings and labeling systems for the variety of entertainment available in the marketplace, which may assist the public in being aware of the content of the entertainment so that parents and guardians may select entertainment that is best suited for their children; and
Whereas, During the month of June, thousands of entertainment retailers across the country are conducting a public awareness campaign to educate parents and guardians about the various entertainment ratings and labeling systems available to help in determining what movies, television, music, and video games are appropriate for their children; and
