Requires assisted living residences and comprehensive personal care homes to ensure connection of emergency cords in residential units to facility staff.

An Act concerning emergency response by assisted living residences and comprehensive personal care homes and supplementing Title 26 of the Revised Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. A facility licensed to operate as an assisted living residence or comprehensive personal care home pursuant to P.L.1971, c.136 (C.26:2H-1 et seq.) shall ensure that each of its residential units is equipped with an emergency cord that is continuously connected, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to a station or person responsible for responding in the event that a resident uses the emergency cord to contact facility staff.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill requires that all State-licensed assisted living residences and comprehensive personal care homes ensure that each of their residential units is equipped with an emergency cord that is continuously connected, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to a station or person responsible for responding in the event that a resident uses the emergency cord to contact facility staff.
