SYNOPSIS

     Authorizes hunters to ride in bed of pickup trucks under certain circumstances.

An Act concerning hunters as passengers in certain motor vehicles and supplementing Title 39 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    Notwithstanding any other law, or rule or regulation adopted pursuant thereto, to the contrary, it shall be lawful for a person engaged in hunting who is in possession of a valid hunting license to ride outside of the passenger compartment in the bed of a passenger motor vehicle commonly referred to as a pickup truck, provided that the pickup truck is moving at a speed of less than 35 miles per hour and the person is riding between hunting sites or a hunting site and a clubhouse or hunting lodge.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill establishes that it would be lawful for a person engaged in hunting who is in possession of a valid hunting license to ride outside of the passenger compartment in the bed of a truck commonly referred to as a pickup truck, provided that:

     1)  the pickup truck is moving at a speed less than 35 miles per hour; and

     2)  the person is riding between hunting sites or a hunting site and a clubhouse or hunting lodge.
