     Removes negligent entrustment of motor vehicle as cause of legal action under certain circumstances.

An Act concerning negligent entrustment of motor vehicles and supplementing Title 2A of the New Jersey Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    No person shall be liable to respond for damages on the basis of negligent entrustment of a motor vehicle, unless the person knew at the time of entrustment that the driver entrusted with the motor vehicle did not have a driver's license.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill provides that no person is liable to respond for damages on the basis of negligent entrustment of a motor vehicle, unless the person knew at the time of entrustment that the driver entrusted with the motor vehicle did not have a driver's license.
