STATEMENT

This bill directs the Division of Travel and Tourism in the Department of State to establish a September 11, 2001 Memorial Registry to provide the location and condition of all known September 11, 2001 memorials in the State.  Under this bill, the division would develop and maintain an interactive Internet website providing information concerning September 11, 2001 memorials in the State.  The bill requires the division to update the website whenever a new September 11, 2001 memorial is established.

The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 caused the largest loss of life from a foreign attack on American soil, and the largest single loss of rescue personnel in American history.  Communities throughout the State have erected monuments to remember and honor those that served and died on September 11, 2001.  This bill would create a Statewide registry of September 11, 2001 memorials erected in New Jersey.
