SYNOPSIS
Provides that certain cosmetology and hairstyling courses may be taught using distance learning technology
CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT

An Act concerning distance learning for certain classes taught in licensed schools of cosmetology and hairstyling and supplementing P.L.1984, c.205 (C.45:5B-1 et seq.).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. A licensed school of cosmetology and hairstyling may administer courses with theory-related subject matter to registered students through distance learning technology. A course that involves instruction using practical demonstration shall only be provided in-person. For the purposes of this section, distance learning means those courses taught by a licensed school of cosmetology and hairstyling to a registered student who is at a location separate and apart from the school.
2. This act shall take effect on the first day of the seventh month next after enactment.
STATEMENT
This bill allows a licensed school of cosmetology and hairstyling to administer its courses with theory-related subject matter to registered students through distance learning technology. A course that involves instruction using practical demonstration can only be provided in-person. Under the bill, distance learning means those courses taught by a licensed school of cosmetology and hairstyling to a registered student who is at a location separate and apart from the school.
