SYNOPSIS
Provides that the salary of an administrator of an approved private school for students with disabilities may not exceed median salary of comparable school district administrators.

An Act concerning private schools for students with disabilities and supplementing chapter 46 of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. a. The Commissioner of Education shall not approve a private school for students with disabilities for the placement of public school students if the salary for any class of administrative position at the school exceeds the median salary of similarly credentialed and experienced administrators in school districts, special services school districts, or educational services commissions in the county with similar enrollment.
b. The commissioner shall annually publish a list for each county of the median salary for each class of administrative position.
2. This act shall take effect immediately, but shall not vacate any contract entered into prior to its enactment until the expiration of the original terms of the contract.
STATEMENT
This bill provides that the salary of an administrator of an approved private school for students with disabilities may not exceed the median salary of comparable administrators in school districts with similar enrollments in the county in which the private school is located. The bill also requires the Commissioner of Education to annually publish a list for each county of the median salary for each class of administrative position. Current regulations provide that the salaries of administrators of these private schools cannot exceed the maximum contracted salary of a similarly-titled administrator of a school district, special services school district, or educational services commission with a comparable average daily enrollment in the State.
