STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Thirteen
AN ACT requiring ballot measures to be in plain English.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Voting Materials; General Responsibility. Amend RSA 656:1 to read as follows:
656:1 General Responsibility.
I. Ballots for use in all state elections shall be prepared and delivered by the secretary of state at the expense of the state.
II. Ballots for use in all state elections shall be in plain English, with emphasis on clarity, brevity, and the avoidance of technical language.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
