A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE LAKE HIGH SCHOOL "LADY HORNETS" FAST-PITCH SOFTBALL TEAM AND COACH JAKE LOPER FOR WINNING THE 2021 CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, THE FIRST FAST-PITCH TITLE IN SCHOOL HISTORY.

WHEREAS, we join the students and parents of Lake High School in congratulating the "Lady Hornets" Fast-Pitch Softball Team as the 2021 Class 2A Fast-Pitch State Champions; and

WHEREAS, the 2021 Lake Softball Team compiled a record of 30 wins with seven losses and finished the season ranked the 4th best team in the state 1A-6A. The Lake Hornets finished 8-0 in Region 6 and were crowned Region Champions and defeated Taylorsville High School to take the South State Championship; and

WHEREAS, they finished their season at MSU defeating Mantachie to win the State Championship. A championship ring will be presented to each player to commemorate their historic 2021 season in which they were crowned 2021 Mississippi High School Activities Association 2A Fast-Pitch State Champions, which was the first fast-pitch title in school history. Head Coach Jack Loper will be presenting the championship rings; and

WHEREAS, the 2021 "Lady Hornets" Fast-Pitch Championship Softball Team Roster: Adyson McKnight, Laneisha Palm, Chloe McDill, Laurel Breland, Tra'Shaylah Wilson, Alyssa Sockey, Brantlee McGee, Amaurei Jones, Kate Gladney, Kinsley Woods, Katlyn Lott, Myeisha Robinson, Taylor Clark, Abby Mills, Gracie McKee, Sadie Thompson, Taylor Duncan, Josie Gibbs, Abbie McGee, Lydasha Thames, Lyric Lay, Madison Breland, Baylea Bone and Alaina Alford; Head Coach Jake Loper; Assistant Coaches Bethanie Hunter and Zach Hanna; and Managers Alyssa Taylor and Maddie Walton; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Lake High School "Lady Hornets" Fast-Pitch Softball Team and Coach Jake Loper for winning the 2021 Class 2A State Championship, the first fast-pitch title in school history, and extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Jake Loper for the team, forwarded to Lake High School Principal Joel McCarty and the Scott County School Board, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
