Senate Concurrent Resolution 633

(As Adopted by Senate and House)

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE RAYMOND HIGH SCHOOL "RANGERS" BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACH TONY TADLOCK FOR WINNING CONSECUTIVE MHSAA CLASS 4A CHAMPIONSHIPS.

WHEREAS, on March 8, 2018, the Raymond High School "Rangers" Boys Basketball Team defeated Corinth 64-52 to win a second straight title.  This one came with a first-year head coach but with many of the same stars; and

WHEREAS, in 2017, Coach Robert Green got Raymond its first Championship since 1999, after three tries in the Title Game in a five-year span.  This year, Coach Tony Tadlock took the helm.  Tadlock was an Assistant Coach at Meridian under Coach Randy Bolden.  He then spent a year under Coach Ron Norman as Meridian won another 6A Title.  Coach Tadlock earned his own shot at Raymond, and he did not waste the talent in front of him.  It did not start easily as the Rangers were 9-6 to begin the season.  Then, they never lost again.  They won 20 straight games, including the State Title Game, to finish as State Champions under Coach Tadlock's first season as the Rangers' Head Coach; and

WHEREAS, the game was close for much of the night, with Raymond leading 26-20 at halftime.  The Rangers came out in the fourth quarter more disciplined.  They found angles for drives to the basket and played a more sound defense to set up transition baskets.  Shardarrion Allen, always a focal point for Raymond, then took over and scored eight unanswered points; and

WHEREAS, Shardarrion Allen finished with 29 points in his final high school game.  Allen was MVP in the 2017 Title Game, and he earned the same honor in 2018; and

WHEREAS, the 2018 Raymond High School "Rangers" Boys Basketball Championship Team Roster:  Demarius Daniels, Tradavis Thompson, Alvin Brown, Cameron Woodall, Jiris Killingsworth, Jacob Robinson, Shardarrian Allen, Wytavious McPherson, Jekeivious Williams, Jakorie Smith, Jared Keyes, Kenjuan Davis, Keauris Stimage, and Martavian McWilliams; and Coach Tony Tadlock; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community, and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Raymond High School "Rangers" Boys Basketball Team and Coach Tony Tadlock for winning consecutive MHSAA Class 4A Championships, and extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Tony Tadlock and Raymond High School Principal Mr. Lorenzo Grimes for the team, forwarded to the Hinds County Board of Education, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
