A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MISSISSIPPI LOBBYIST RON ALDRIDGE UPON HIS RECEIPT OF THE PRESTIGIOUS KEEP AMERICA BEAUTIFUL "IRON EYES CODY AWARD" IN RECOGNITION OF HIS DECADES OF COMMUNITY SERVICE DEVOTED TO ADVANCING MISSISSIPPI AS A MORE BEAUTIFUL STATE.
WHEREAS, Keep America Beautiful President Helen Lowman recently presented Mississippi Lobbyist Ron Aldridge with its "Iron Eyes Cody Award" in recognition of his decades of community service devoted to advancing Mississippi as a cleaner, greener and more beautiful state. The "Iron Eyes Cody Award" is given to a citizen who demonstrates exceptional leadership in raising public awareness about ending litter, improving recycling and beautifying communities, as well as the need for citizens to participate in activities that help transform public spaces into beautiful places; and
WHEREAS, Keep America Beautiful's National Awards Program recognizes the best of the best among its network of community-based affiliates, leading corporate partners and individual volunteers across the country who have committed to delivering cleaner, greener and more beautiful communities. Since 1986, Keep America Beautiful awards have been presented annually to individuals whose commitment to social responsibility and sustainability have significantly enhanced civic, environmental and social stewardship throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, for over 30 years, Ron Aldridge has served as a Lobbyist, valuable resource and friend to the Mississippi Legislature; and
WHEREAS, Ron represents the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), which is an advocate for 325,000 small businesses in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., and is dedicated to leveling the playing field with Big Business, Big Government, and Big Labor in every key area: taxes, healthcare, regulations and more. NFIB is the leading advocate for small business owners, with offices in every state capital, whose mission is to defend the right of small business owners to run their businesses without undue government interference and to advance public policies that promote their success; and
WHEREAS, Ron's expertise is respected as an advocate for several associations that interact with the Legislature, and it is with great pride that we join Keep America Beautiful in recognizing a public-private partner who contributes ideas, support, time, and the power of volunteerism to empower a stronger community in Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mississippi Lobbyist Ron Aldridge upon his receipt of the prestigious Keep America Beautiful "Iron Eyes Cody Award" in recognition of his decades of community service devoted to advancing Mississippi as a more beautiful state, and extend to Ron and his family our best wishes for future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Ron Aldridge, forwarded to the Mississippi affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
