A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE LEGACY OF OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE BY RONALD BRITT AFTER 40 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI AND BOSWELL REGIONAL CENTER.

     WHEREAS, we join the administration and staff of Boswell Regional Center and the Mississippi Department of Mental Health in commending the record of achievement and legacy of leadership and dedication of Ronald Britt; and

     WHEREAS, Ronald Britt, a native of Magee, Mississippi, first arrived at Boswell Regional Center, a facility in Magee operated by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, on November 21, 1977, after earning an Associate of Arts Degree from Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Science Degree, both from The University of Southern Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Ronald Britt has given four decades of service to the State of Mississippi and has served in numerous positions at Boswell Regional Center, including Physical Education; Staff Development; Quality Services Management; Special Projects; and for the past 22 years, Director of Community Services; and

     WHEREAS, as Director of Community Services, Ronald Britt has dedicated the greater portion of his career to growing the programs and services under this important division to ensure that individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities have a wealth of community living and employment options available to them; and

     WHEREAS, in every role in which he has served, Ronald Britt has truly left a lasting and visible impact that has contributed greatly to the immense progress Boswell Regional Center and the Mississippi Department of Mental Health have made in helping individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities live more independent, fulfilling lives; and

     WHEREAS, the contributions Ronald Britt has made as a result of his education, training, expertise and talent will continue to move Boswell Regional Center and the individuals it serves in the right direction for many years to come; and

     WHEREAS, thousands of individuals have benefitted from Ronald Britt's vast knowledge of the mental health field and most important, his compassion for those served by the numerous programs and services offered by Boswell Regional Center and the Mississippi Department of Mental Health.  His is a legacy about which one can truly say, "Well done, good and faithful servant":

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize the legacy of outstanding public service by Ronald Britt after 40 years of service to the State of Mississippi and Boswell Regional Center, and extend the best wishes of the Mississippi Legislature to Ronald and his family on this auspicious occasion.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Ronald Britt, forwarded to the Executive Director of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
