AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF RANKIN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO ENTER INTO CERTAIN ROAD IMPROVEMENT  CONTRACTS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE CONTRACTS MAY EXTEND BEYOND 30 DAYS FROM THE TERMINATION AND END OF THE TERM OF OFFICE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AWARDING THE CONTRACTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The Board of Supervisors of Rankin County, Mississippi, is authorized, in its discretion, to receive competitive bids and enter into the following roadway construction contracts:

          (a)  Gunter Road Improvement Project;

          (b)  Florence-Byram Parkway Improvement Project;

          (c)  Northshore Causeway Bridge Improvements;

          (d)  State Aid Project SAP 61(18)M;

          (e)  State Aid Project SAP 61(19)M;

          (f)  State Aid Project SAP (8)S;

          (g)  Local System Bridge Project LSBP 61(6);

          (h)  Old Fannin Road Overlay Project;

          (i)  Andrew Jackson Circle/Airgas Improvement Project;

          (j)  Old Pearson Road Improvement Project; and

          (k)  Various projects identified in Rankin County's Watershed Protection and Restoration Program.

     (2)  The Board of Supervisors of Rankin County may enter into contracts as authorized in this section for any length of time as may be determined by the board of supervisors regardless of whether the contracts may extend beyond thirty (30) days from the termination and end of the term of office of the members of the board of supervisors awarding the contracts.

     (3)  The provisions of this section shall be repealed from and after December 31, 2023.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
