Senate Bill 2442

AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY TO IDENTIFY AND PUBLISH THE LOCATIONS OF ALL COAL ASH DAM SITES IN THE STATE AND TO DEVELOP REGULATIONS TO MONITOR SUCH SITES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The Department of Environmental Quality shall identify all coal ash dam sites in the state and shall publish the locations of these sites.

     (2)  The department shall develop a program and regulations to monitor these sites.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2019.
