WHEREAS, a generous and compassionate soul who delighted in bringing happiness to others passed this life on December 11, 2017, when Mrs. Doris McCool Osborne was summoned to be with the holy and immaculate father; and

WHEREAS, born the youngest daughter to the late Frank Rozell McCool, Sr., and Eva Curtis McCool, on January 19, 1923, in Sturgis, Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, this blessed soul lived to be the age of 94; and

WHEREAS, a woman of faith and virtue, Mrs. Osborne was a dedicated member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood, Mississippi, and the Order of the Eastern Star; and

WHEREAS, true love struck when Doris met Mr. Cassie Osborne, Sr., and their passion ignited into marriage when they exchanged the vows of holy matrimony with the words "I do," on December 9, 1942; and

WHEREAS, to this bountiful union, 11 children were blessed to be born to parents who were passionate believers in attaining an education, and who worked extremely hard to ensure that each of their 11 children attended and completed college; and

WHEREAS, a Proverbs 31 woman, Mrs. Osborne exemplified the virtues of honesty, hard work, devotion to family, independence and self-reliance, inspiring all of those around her to strive for excellence daily; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Osborne leaves to cherish her memory and honor her legacy:  Constance Osborne, Cassie Osborne Collins, Cassie Osborne, Jr., Solomon Osborne, Sr., Robert Osborne, Joyce Osborne Walker, Ruth Osborne Gordon, Alyce Osborne Horton, Henry Osborne and Dorothy Osborne Hunter; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and

WHEREAS, by all accounts Mrs. Osborne lived a great life and fought the good fight much in the way described by II Timothy 4:7 by having "fought a good fight, finishing her course and keeping the faith until the hour of her departure was at hand"; and

WHEREAS, it is policy of the House of Representatives to honor and celebrate faithful Mississippians such as Mrs. Doris McCool Osborne, whose smile lit up a room and summoned the brightness of a thousand suns:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commemorate the life and mourn the loss of Mrs. Doris McCool Osborne, and express deepest sympathy to her family and friends upon her passing.
