A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MS. SHARICKA GRAY OF FAIRVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN COLUMBUS, MISSISSIPPI, FOR BEING NAMED AN EXTRAORDINARY EDUCATOR FOR 2022 BY CURRICULUM ASSOCIATES.
WHEREAS, Curriculum Associates created the Extraordinary Educators program to celebrate and connect Best in Class teachers from across the nation; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 Class of Extraordinary Educators includes an elite group of 35 K-8 educators from across the country who illustrate growth and achievement via formal assessments, demonstrate classroom innovation and engagement practices for students, are evangelists for high standards and student achievement, and exhibit best-in-class use of i-Ready and/or Ready instructional resources designed by Curriculum Associates in their classroom; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Sharicka Gray, of Columbus, Mississippi, was named as an inductee of the 2022 Class of Extraordinary Educators, as she personifies the ideals that Curriculum Associates set forth with the program; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Gray, who has been teaching for 12 years, holds a bachelor of science in elementary education from Mississippi State University, and currently teaches third grade at Fairview Elementary School in the Columbus Municipal School District; and
WHEREAS, one who strives diligently to have a classroom that is open-minded, fun and engaging, Ms. Gray loves seeing her students' eyes light up when they view their progress on i-Ready, which increases her passion for teaching, as indicated by her having gone on record as saying, "You have to be intentional with your instruction, set a goal to know where you are going, and reflect on growth and necessary changes along the way"; and
WHEREAS, as an inductee into the 2022 Class of Extraordinary Educators, Ms. Gray has received local and national recognition, in addition to gaining access to a network of peers from around the country, opportunities for professional development, and a standing invitation to attend the Extraordinary Educators Leadership Summit in Boston, Massachusetts; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence in the accomplishments and remarkable service of educators of Ms. Gray's exceptional caliber, who have tirelessly and selflessly devoted their lives to imparting light and knowledge into the bright scholars of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Sharicka Gray of Columbus, Mississippi, for being named as an inductee of the Curriculum Associates 2022 Class of Extraordinary Educators and extend sincerest wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Sharicka Gray and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
