A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING MRS. SARAH LEA ANGLIN UPON BEING NAMED THE 2022 STATE GAMES OF MISSISSIPPI FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Sarah Lea Anglin, a mountain biker from Madison, Mississippi, has been named the 2022 State Games of Mississippi Female Athlete of the Year, a truly exceptional accomplishment; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Anglin has been participating in this distinguished sport for three years, during which she won a gold medal in the 2022 State Games Mountain Bike event; and
WHEREAS, though this year's mountain bike course was the hardest Mrs. Anglin has ever completed, she still found it to be "really fun"; and
WHEREAS, outside of the State Games, Mrs. Anglin has many achievements, such as placing in the 2021 Gulf South Regional Mountain Bike Series, the 2022 Oak Mountain Race, the 2022 Tux Creek Tussle Race and the Tuffburg Race; and
WHEREAS, outstandingly, Mrs. Anglin was inspired to take up mountain biking because of her young granddaughter, as she and her husband had been mentors in the Mississippi Kids Cyclocross Program, when her granddaughter said, "Why don't you race?", and though her first thought was, "I'm going to die!", her second thought was, "I have to do this. These girls need to see someone out there riding and racing — giving it their best. Why not a grandmother?"; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize extraordinary Mississippians, especially those such as Mrs. Anglin, whose hard work and dedication to the sport of mountain biking brings honor to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and commend Mrs. Sarah Lea Anglin upon being named the 2022 State Games of Mississippi Female Athlete of the Year, and express our most sincere wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Sarah Lea Anglin, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
