A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING HANCOCK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT ALAN DEDEAUX UPON HIS RETIREMENT AND WISHING HIM YEARS OF RELAXATION AND SUCCESS.
WHEREAS, Mr. Alan Dedeaux, distinguished and dedicated Superintendent of Hancock County School District has announced his retirement at the end of the school year, June 30, 2021; and
WHEREAS, his passion for education has motivated him to diligently serve in the field of education for 38 years in various capacities, including teacher, coach, bus driver, school administrator and superintendent; and
WHEREAS, he was elected superintendent three times by the people of Hancock County, which was a historic first occurrence for the school district, and went on to be the first appointed superintendent of the district; and
WHEREAS, the school district thrived during Mr. Dedeaux's leadership becoming and maintaining an A-rated school district and ranking 11th in the state; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure, two bond issue projects also passed, neither of which required a tax millage increase to the citizens of Hancock County; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dedeaux has always found time to volunteer in other professional organizations such as serving as the past president of the Pearl River Community College Board of Trustees, a board member for the Hancock County Zoning and Building Code, a member of the Gulf Coast Education Initiative Consortium, Mississippi School Board Association and the American Association of School Administrators, and most recently as a member of the Mississippi Association of School Superintendents Board of Directors as an at large member; and
WHEREAS, he is most proud, amongst all other titles, of his title as father to Ali, Heath and Todd, with whom he enjoys
spectator sports and traveling; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor passionate educators who have risen through the ranks of academia to leadership, such as Mr. Dedeaux, to inspire our youth:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby congratulate Mr. Alan Dedeaux on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many years of relaxation and enjoyment.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Alan Dedeaux and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
