House Resolution 75

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2020-2021 COAHOMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE LADY TIGERS BASKETBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE 2021 MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY COLLEGES CONFERENCE NORTH DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the 2020-2021 Coahoma Community College Lady Tigers Basketball Team are the 2021 Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference North District Champions; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers (12-2) closed the regular season on an 11-game winning streak and will host the first round of the regional tournament, and will host the second round of the tournament with a win in the first round; and

WHEREAS, Coahoma Community College closed the regular season at home with a 71-58 win against Northwest Mississippi Community College on Sophomore Night, and the Lady Tigers won the regular season finale on the road with a 77-62 victory at Northeast Mississippi Community College; and

WHEREAS, "This group right here got Coahoma back in the winning tradition," said third-year Lady Tigers Coach Stephanie Murphy as her sophomores were being honored Thursday night; and

WHEREAS, Murphy believes the Lady Tigers will have success in the postseason, stating, "I've got faith in what we do as far as our work ethic and we're just going to continue to believe"; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Stephanie Murphy and Assistant Coach Isaiah Butler continue to build upon the legacy of superior play and true sportsmanship forged by the tenacious and undaunted spirit of each team member, as evidenced in their ability to produce high caliber players and plays and by the team's successful season; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially that displayed by the

Coahoma Community College Lady Tigers Basketball Team, and it is with great pride that we congratulate this elite group of student-athletes, Head Coach Murphy and Assistant Coach Butler, who have brought honor to their school, their community and to their state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2020-2021 Coahoma Community College Lady Tigers Basketball Team upon winning the 2021 Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference North District Championship, and extend best wishes to the team and coaches for continued success in the regional tournament and in all of their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Stephanie Murphy, Athletic Director Reggy Hankerson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
