A RESOLUTION MOURNING THE LOSS AND COMMEMORATING THE LIFE OF MR. BILLY "JACKIE" F. MILLER AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY UPON HIS PASSING.
WHEREAS, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven," and as such, the grand architect of the universe, the immaculate author and finisher of our soul's destiny, summoned the mortal presence of dearly beloved, Mr. Billy "Jackie" F. Miller, to eternal rest on March 16, 2021, when he made life's final transition from earthly travailing to heavenly reward, rendering great sorrow and loss to his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Miller was born in Weir, Mississippi, to the loving care of Mr. Richard "Buck" Miller and Lydia Davis Miller who both preceded him in death; and
WHEREAS, he was affectionately referred to as "Jackie" and known throughout the community as a devoted, hardworking and loving father, brother and uncle; and
WHEREAS, although he began his junior year of high school in Cleveland, Ohio, he completed his high school education at Choctaw County High School in his birth city of Weir, and continued his education at Jackson State University; and
WHEREAS, upon graduation from Jackson State University, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served four years from November 30, 1962, until November 29, 1966; and
WHEREAS, over the years, Mr. Miller has held a number of distinguished positions during his professional career from employee to business owner, as he has worked for Central Mississippi Community Action Agency before going on to work with the United States Postal Service, where he remained for 17 years; and
WHEREAS, this man of many talents left his tenure with the United States Postal Service and became an entrepreneur as the owner of Miller's Pest Control, and worked in masonry; and
WHEREAS, he was a wonderful spirit during his time on earth, and made the most of it by enjoying traveling and spending time with family and friends; and
WHEREAS, a man of faith, he was a dedicated member of Haven United Methodist Church in Winona, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, to cherish his memory, he leaves: one son, DeMond Deonta' Miller; one brother, Maurice Miller; two grandchildren, Mikieyla Helm Miller and Darrius Miller; and one sister-in-law, Juanita Pearson Miller (Bobby - deceased); and a host of family and friends:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby mourn the loss and commemorate the life of Mr. Billy "Jackie" F. Miller, and express deep sympathy upon his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Billy "Jackie" F. Miller and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
