A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. BETHANY LANGSTON STUBBLEFIELD ON BEING NAMED THE 2014 TEACHER OF THE YEAR FOR GARY ROAD INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL AND HINDS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT.

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Bethany Langston Stubblefield, a fifth grade language arts teacher at Gary Road Intermediate School in Byram, Mississippi, has been named the 2014 Teacher of the Year for Gary Road Intermediate School and Hinds County School District; and

     WHEREAS, now in her twelfth year of teaching, Mrs. Stubblefield holds a master's degree in elementary education from Mississippi College and is certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, an organization designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers across the country through a voluntary assessment program that requires teachers to demonstrate advanced teaching knowledge, skills and practices; and

     WHEREAS, a fabulous educator always exploring new teaching concepts to improve the performance of her students, Mrs. Stubblefield employs a variety of creative teaching methods in the classroom to engage her fifth grade pupils by making the lessons being studied relevant to their lives, thus making learning exciting for the impressionable young minds under her tutelage; and

     WHEREAS, never letting a teachable moment slip away, Mrs. Stubblefield, a positive role model who is fondly admired and loved by her students, works closely with a wide range of children from various socioeconomic backgrounds, with some having more academic and living skills challenges than others, to help all of her individual students reach their full potential; and

     WHEREAS, although Mrs. Stubblefield grew up not far away in Raymond, Mississippi, she and her family are active in their local community and proudly make Byram their home today; and

     WHEREAS, the Gary Road Intermediate School family and the entire Hinds County School District are excited to claim as one of their own Mrs. Bethany Langston Stubblefield, whose enthusiasm for teaching and success in touching the lives of students both in the classroom and in their journey toward adolescence is truly an inspiration to her fellow educators; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to pay special recognition to exceptional Mississippians such as Mrs. Bethany Langston Stubblefield, an extraordinarily talented educator with a passion for teaching which is positively enriching and molding the lives of young Mississippians, who are the future of our state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Bethany Langston Stubblefield, fifth grade language arts teacher at Gary Road Intermediate School, on being named the 2014 Teacher of the Year for Gary Road Intermediate School and Hinds County School District and express best wishes for continued success in all of her future professional and personal endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Bethany Langston Stubblefield, Gary Road Intermediate School, Hinds County School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
