A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MS. CARIN PLATT FOR BEING SELECTED AS 2023 INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE JACKSON COUNTY CAMPUS OF MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

     WHEREAS, Ms. Carin Platt, a resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, has been selected as 2023 Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

     WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Platt, a Life Learning Skills instructor, has been employed at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past 25 years; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Platt received her associate of arts degree with an emphasis in human services from Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College, her bachelor of arts degree with an emphasis in special education from University of South Alabama, and her master of arts degree with an emphasis in special education from the University of Southern Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, prior to her career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Ms. Platt worked for the University of Southern Mississippi and St. Martin High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend such an outstanding teacher such as Ms. Platt, who has dedicated her career to teaching the young people of this state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Carin Platt for being selected as 2023 Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and extend to her our heartiest wishes of success in all her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Carin Platt and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
