A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING FOOTBALL COACH M.C. MILLER, A LOUISVILLE AND NOXUBEE COUNTY COACHING LEGEND, UPON HIS JUNE 2019 INDUCTION INTO THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF COACHES HALL OF FAME.

     WHEREAS, Coach M.C. Miller is a remarkably talented and distinguished individual who will be inducted into the Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame in June 2019 as an accomplished football coach; and

     WHEREAS, belovedly nicknamed "Toothpick" because he always had a toothpick in his mouth on the sidelines, Coach Miller graduated high school in 1967 from Camile Street High in Louisville, Mississippi, before matriculating to Wiley College in Marshall, Texas, and then to Alcorn State University where he graduated with a bachelor of science in 1973; and

     WHEREAS, he almost immediately went into coaching in 1974, and served brief stints as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director as well; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Miller began his coaching year as an Assistant Coach at Noxubee County High School before becoming Head Coach there after three seasons, and then spent 10 seasons at the helm before moving to Louisville High School in 1987 to serve as an Assistant Coach for eight seasons; and

     WHEREAS, in 1995, Coach Miller returned to Noxubee County as Head Coach for 15 seasons and then finally returned home to complete his coaching career with nine seasons as the head man at Louisville High School beginning in 2010; and

     WHEREAS, in his remarkable 34-year head coaching career, Coach Miller, an eight-time Coach of the Year honoree, recorded an overall record of 282 wins, 131 losses and four ties, won 12 District Championships and was crowned State Champions five times: 1991, 1993, 2008, 2013 and 2018; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and salute those people whose unparalleled dedication and incomparable service to their careers truly brings about the betterment of their community, the State of Mississippi and the United States of America:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and commend Football Coach M.C. Miller, a Louisville and Noxubee County coaching legend, for his June 2019 induction into the Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame and extend sincere wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach M.C. Miller and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
