House Bill 357

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 31-7-124, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO INCREASE FROM $75,000.00 TO $100,000.00 THE AMOUNT OF BOND THAT  IS REQUIRED FOR COUNTY PURCHASE CLERKS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 31-7-124, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     31-7-124.  The * * *purchase clerk, receiving clerk and inventory control clerk shall give bond in a penalty equal to Seventy-five Thousand Dollars ($75,000.00) and the purchase clerk shall give bond in a penalty equal to One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) with sufficient surety, to be payable, conditioned and approved as provided by law.  All assistant purchasing, receiving and inventory control clerks shall be bonded in a penalty not less than Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00).  Such bond shall be in addition to any other bond required by law, with sufficient surety, to be payable, conditioned and approved as provided by law.  The premiums of such bonds shall be paid from any funds available to the board of supervisors for the payment of such premiums.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2021.
