House Bill 1768

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARDS OF SUPERVISORS OF TALLAHATCHIE COUNTY, UNION COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, AND CERTAIN OTHER COUNTIES TO ESTABLISH THE TALLAHATCHIE RIVER AUTHORITY, WHICH SHALL PROMOTE TOURISM, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND BANK STABILIZATION OF THE TALLAHATCHIE RIVER; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The Boards of Supervisors of Tallahatchie County and Union County, Mississippi, and any other counties where the Tallahatchie River flows through in the State of Mississippi, in their discretion, may, by order duly entered on their respective minutes, establish the Tallahatchie River Authority for purposes of promoting tourism, economic development and bank stabilization of the Tallahatchie River and the counties that are members of the authority.  Members of the Tallahatchie River Authority shall consist of one (1) person appointed by the Boards of Supervisors of Tallahatchie County and Union County and one (1) appointee from any other Mississippi county board of supervisors through which the Tallahatchie River traverses.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
