MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO MR. OMAR TRAVIS OF HINDS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Mr. Omar Travis of Hinds County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction for the crime of Residential Burglary on March 6, 1991, in Hinds County, Mississippi, for which he was sentenced to serve five (5) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He was discharged on January 11, 1994.  He was sentenced on February 2, 2009, in an Out-of-State Court as a result of his conviction for the crime of Burglary, for which he was sentenced to serve four (4) years, nine (9) months and two (2) days probation under the supervision of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.  He was discharged on October 13, 2013.  As a result of his conviction for the crime of Receiving Stolen Property on March 14, 2016, in Rankin County, Mississippi, he was sentenced to serve ten (10) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

     He completed all terms and conditions of his sentence and was discharged on February 1, 2021.  The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
