House Bill 1098

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE STATE-CHARTERED BANKS, CREDIT UNIONS OR OTHER FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL SERVICES TO ANY LICENSED MEDICAL MARIJUANA TREATMENT CENTER THAT IS REGISTERED WITH AND REGULATED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Subject to any provisions of federal law, a

state-chartered bank, credit union or other financial institution may provide financial services, including, but not limited to, opening accounts and accepting deposits, to any licensed medical marijuana treatment center that is registered with and regulated by the Mississippi State Department of Health as defined in Section    ,  Mississippi Constitution of 1890.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2021.
