1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Elk River High School girls basketball team on winning the 2017 State
1.3High School Class 4A girls basketball championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Elk River basketball team participated in the 2017 State High School Class 4A girls
1.7basketball tournament on March 14-18, 2017, at Williams Arena; and
1.8WHEREAS, they defeated the Hopkins Royals 64 to 60 in the final game of the tournament to win
1.9the state championship; and
1.10WHEREAS, the Elks finished the regular season undefeated with an outstanding 29-0 record; and
1.11WHEREAS, winning a state championship is a tremendous accomplishment for Elk River High
1.12School girls basketball coach Jeremy Digiovanni and team members Hayley Ackermann, Kennedy Boysen,
1.13Kelsie Cox, Alexa Engebretson, Kayla Engebretson, Ally Gramstad, Gabi Haack, Lydia Haack, Mikayla
1.14Kanenwisher, Ava Kramer, Julia Kramer, Danielle Lachmiller, Madison Leuthold, Matia Person, Kaylin
1.15Plautz, and Sidney Wentland; and
1.16NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.17congratulations are extended to the members of the Elk River High School girls basketball team for their
1.18sportsmanship and skill.
2.1BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an enrolled
2.2copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair of the Senate
2.3Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of Elk River High School.
