1.1A Senate resolution
1.2commending Dr. Pam Paulson on her retirement after 33 years of service at
1.3the Perpich Center for Arts Education.
1.4WHEREAS, Dr. Pam Paulson was one of the founding directors of the Perpich Center for
1.5Arts Education and was responsible for professional development programs at the center, connecting
1.6with state and national arts and education organizations, administering the statewide Perpich Library,
1.7and collaborating on data projects for statewide arts education with CreativeMN; and
1.8WHEREAS, Dr. Paulson co-created the Perpich Center to ensure every student in Minnesota
1.9had the arts as part of their complete education; and
1.10WHEREAS, Dr. Paulson ensured that the Perpich Center had the most effective arts educators
1.11to teach students; and
1.12WHEREAS, she served on many boards and committees, such as the College Board, the
1.13College Board Academic Council, the College Board National Task Force for the Arts in Education,
1.14and the Arts Academic Committee; and
1.15WHEREAS, before her work at the Perpich Center, Dr. Paulson created and directed the
1.16dance program at Apple Valley High School and taught for seven years at Augsburg College in
1.17Minneapolis; and
1.18WHEREAS, she is widely recognized as a dedicated professional known for her advocacy
1.19for the arts on a local, state, and national level, and her proud legacy will live on through all she
1.20has achieved; and
1.21NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.22recognizes Dr. Pam Paulson for 33 years of dedication and commitment with the Perpich Center
1.23for Arts Education, commends her career as an arts leader, and extends best wishes to her in her
1.24retirement.
1.25BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare a
1.26copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair of the
1.27Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Dr. Pam Paulson.
