1.1A Senate resolution
1.2commending Rosemount High School Principal John Wollersheim for his many years
1.3of dedicated service to the education profession, students, and community.
1.4WHEREAS, a member of the education profession must believe in the ability of all students
1.5to learn and reach their full potential; and
1.6WHEREAS, a caring, enthusiastic, and skilled educator is a major factor in establishing a
1.7good educational climate; and
1.8WHEREAS, an educator must be a model of good deportment and moral character, for
1.9students learn by example; and
1.10WHEREAS, besides imparting knowledge, educators are called upon to motivate their
1.11students to learn and develop their communication and social skills in order to become productive
1.12citizens; and
1.13WHEREAS, John Wollersheim was hired as an economics teacher at Rosemount High
1.14School in 1984 and has been principal since 2008 when he succeeded Greg Clausen, who is currently
1.15serving as a DFL state senator for Rosemount and Apple Valley; and
1.16WHEREAS, prior to that John was assistant principal starting in 1996, which was preceded
1.17by six years at Eagan and Hastings High Schools; and
1.18WHEREAS, during his time at Rosemount High School, he coached football and girls
1.19basketball; and
1.20WHEREAS, he continued to serve at Rosemount due to the excellence of the staff, students,
1.21parents, and the entire community, but on May 11, 2018, he announced he is retiring at the end of
1.22the school year; and
1.23WHEREAS, Rosemount High School has been recognized as a National School of Excellence,
1.24Alliance for the Arts School of Excellence, MASSP Gold Star Innovation School, and has received
2.1other top honors from the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. News and World Report, Newsweek,
2.2ACT, MSHSL, Niche, and more; and
2.3NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
2.4commends Rosemount High School Principal John Wollersheim for his many years of dedication
2.5and commitment to the education profession.
2.6BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare a
2.7copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair of the
2.8Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to John Wollersheim.
